4th of July Safety at Home
Independence Day is on its way. If you are planning a 4th of July celebration at home, be sure you’re prepared. Here are some 4th of July safety tips for your home:
Fireworks are fun, but they can also be dangerous. It’s important that your family follow the directions on firework packaging in order to be as safe as possible. Additionally, only sober individuals and adults should operate fireworks. Never relight a dud firework, always supervise children when they’re near fireworks, and keep water and a fire extinguisher nearby just in case. You should also never light fireworks near a structure that can catch fire.
The 4th of July tastes like burgers and hot dogs and smells like burning charcoal. While grilling out is an Independence Day tradition, it can turn dangerous when not done properly. Always follow manufacturer guidelines when cooking on a grill and never leave the grill unattended. Once again, having water and a fire extinguisher on hand are always a good idea.
Do you have a pool? Taking a dip in the pool during a 4th of July celebration is fun, but it’s important to stay safe when swimming. A family member or guest should always be on lifeguard duty to supervise people when they’re in the pool. Children should never be left unattended when swimming or playing near a pool. You also want to establish strict rules before your event to make sure everyone is as safe as possible as they play.
