How to Make Your Laundry Room Feel More Luxurious

Despite the fact that we spend a great deal of time in them, laundry rooms are often forgotten rooms in our homes when it comes to decorating and revamping.  Often times they become a catch-all space for extra bags, shoes, and single socks.  At Nutter Custom Construction, we think laundry rooms deserve to feel as cozy and luxurious as any other room in your house, and are here to help!

Our biggest tip of all is to make your laundry space functional.  There is no getting around the need to wash and dry clothes and linens, so why not make your space as easy to use as possible?  If you have the space, we highly recommend installing a large, deep sink to soak stains and have an area that is quick and easy to clean after messes and spills.  Make sure your layout is sensical and you won’t have to travel anywhere to load the dryer after taking wet clothes out of the dryer.  Do you hang most of your clothes to dry?  Incorporate a hanging area, there are even options that fold up against the wall to save space when not in use.

Next on our list is storage.  There’s nothing worse than having tons of small bottles, bags, and containers with nowhere to put them.  Utilizing space for storage will help you avoid dust and clutter.  You want your space for cleaning things to be clean!  Shelving and cabinets are great improvements in laundry rooms!

Now for the aesthetics.  Think of the laundry room like any other room.  You can change flooring, wall colors and textures, lighting, and more!  Creating an inviting space will make you feel better about spending time there.

When it comes to flooring, some options may be better than others.  Vinyl flooring is a great choice as it’s easy to install and won’t break the bank.  If you want to go with waterproof flooring, stained or painted concrete is ideal.  Hardwood may run through the rest of your home, but it isn’t waterproof and can warp and become severely damaged if there’s any leaking in the laundry room at any point.

Paint is a great way to make a room feel completely different without putting in too much work.  Wallpaper is also a fun way to add a pop of color and texture to any space, including the ceiling!  Lighting is also a great way to put your own fun spin on a laundry room.  Choosing a unique chandelier or light fixture will make a bold statement with just one easy swap!
