What’s a Punch List?
Are you looking to remodel your home, or maybe you are building a new home? Whichever option you are doing, you may have a punch list and you don’t even know about it. To learn what a punch list is, keep reading.
If you are building a new home, a punch list is a list of projects that need to be completed or repaired. During your home construction walk-through, look for elements that need to be finished or fixed. Your punch list can include items like painting the walls, rearranging the cabinets, fixing the faucets, and so on.
If you are overwhelmed by the punch list possibilities, we’ve got you covered. Remodeling or building a house can feel like a lot, but we’ve broken down the key items for any punch list. When it comes to the exterior, the first punch list point is the material. Are you going to select paint, brick, or stone? Think about your location, personal preferences, and maintenance requirements. Next, think about the foundation. Does the land have a slope that requires an angled foundation? Is there the potential of flooding? Use a hose to see if this is the case. If so, add editing the foundation to your punch list. Some other exterior punch list points include the doors, windows, and roof.
When stepping inside, you also want to think about the doors. Make sure all interior doors open and close properly. You can also customize your doors with paint or doorknobs. Next, check the paint. If your walls are painted, is the paint even? If not, add this to the list. Flooring is another key part of your home. Put flooring on your punch list to replace or repair what is currently there to match your lifestyle needs. Other interior punch list possibilities include the electricity, attic, basement, and insulation.
